10 great gifts for the fitness enthusiast
For some people, buying gifts during the holidays or special occasions is easy. Some people are very good at choosing gifts for their friends or family. For those of us not blessed with that talent, figuring out what to buy someone can be like pulling teeth. Gift giving can be even more of a challenge when the person you’re shopping for doesn’t know how to tip. For those struggling in the gift-giving arena, a list of ideas can be very helpful.
Some lists can be very extensive. You can see anything from a cutting board to a gaming laptop listed. The best way is to look for something that suits your loved ones likes or needs. Because of that, I’ve compiled a list of 10 gift ideas for the person in your life who never seems to come out of the gym. I will try to avoid brand recommendations as budget, features and reliability are all considerations when buying a gift.
10 gift ideas for the fitness enthusiast:
1. Opposition groups
Resistance bands have become a staple of resistance training for a reason. They are versatile, portable and generally inexpensive. Groups are perfect for people who want to hit the gym but often find themselves in a situation where no one is available. So if you know someone who travels a lot for work and likes to stay healthy, this might be the gift for them.
2. Stop training methods
The suspension suspension system uses straps that adjust along with the user’s body weight. It is a great tool for resistance training. Like groups, these systems are very simple. Another great option for frequent flyers or someone looking to get in reps with minimal equipment and gym space.
3. Heavy vests
Weight vests are one of the most popular fitness equipment in use today. These vests usually have multiple pockets designed to hold small items. This weight can be added or subtracted to reach the overall target weight. These vests can be worn during bodyweight movements like squats and push-ups to add extra resistance. They are also great for runners as well. The only downside to their portability is weight. Most clothes weigh 40-50 pounds and more. A heavy item can cause problems when traveling – especially when flying.
4. Exercise books
Many people traded in notebooks for cell phones back in the day. We all know the advantages of writing versus typing so I won’t write it here. I will say that there are still many people who prefer to write their notes by hand instead of typing. Exercise books are a perfect idea for someone who keeps track of reps, sets and times. They are also very cheap.
5. Headphones
If you’ve ever stepped foot in a music studio, then you know that playlists can be messy. Since many people enjoy listening to music while exercising, being able to listen to what they want can be very helpful. Headphones are always a great gift idea. With so many options available, it’s very easy to find a pair that fits your loved one’s needs and your budget. A word of advice would be to make sure the headphones are waterproof at least. You’d hate to have your gift ruined because of a little sweat.
6. Wearable fitness trackers
Wearable fitness trackers have been around for years now. Watches are usually the most common but, there are also rings and bands that people can wear. Many will count your steps, track movements, monitor heart rate, and even keep track of your overall health. However, be careful, as the accuracy of the reading may vary from device to device.
7. Blender
I know this seems a little corny but hear me out. A blender is perfect for making smoothies and other healthy meals at home. Since most of us are fighting the clock in the morning, a quick and healthy breakfast option is perfect for breaking the rush. Many companies even make smaller versions designed with portability in mind. Perfect for people who take their protein on the go.
8. Fitness supplements
This one comes with a caveat. Exercise equipment can make great gifts if You know the types of supplements, brands and flavors that people like. If you don’t know, you can always get them a gift card to their favorite accessory store.
9. Workout clothes
This is another proposal that requires some information beforehand. We all know that size can be a pain in the rear. As with exercise supplements, if you don’t know, you can get a gift card for them. Many fitness companies even offer discounts to veterans and military spouses. Check out some great gym discounts here.
10. Gym membership
This one seems pretty simple, and it is. Some gym memberships can be north of $50/month. Fortunately, many gyms offer gift certificates. A few months to a year of free membership can go a long way.
These are just a few ideas. There are so many other options, if I try to list them, we will be here until next Thanksgiving. Just remember, not all exercise equipment and clothing are created equal. Be sure to read reviews and compare similar items. Hopefully, this has given you some ideas for the gym rat in your life.
